Storyline La maison de Himiko
Saori is a young woman struggling to make her way in life. Her gay father, Himiko, had abandoned Saori and her mother years before. Now her father's young lover Haruhiko shows up to tell Saori that her father is dying of cancer. Still angry with her father but in need of money, Saori travels to the House of Himiko, a nursing home established by her father for gay men. One rainy day, she receives a visit at work from a handsome young man called Haruhiko. He claims to be the boyfriend of her estranged father, Himiko, who now runs a seaside rest home for elderly gays.
House of Himiko rejects being sentimental even if its story is a little bit too tragic. Instead, it focuses on the positive—making this seem more like a tragic-comedy. What I enjoyed the most about the film is really how honest it was and how the characters are genuine.

The film was shown at the Japanese film festival in Sydney in December 2006 (as La Maison de Himiko).
